BIOGRAPHY

Born in Mantova, Milano region in 1977. Marco Guidolotti started saxophone education when he was 6 years old and got his degree in clarinet in 1999 at the “A. Casella Conservatory” in L’ Aquila, under the assistance of maestro Domenico Lanzara. He then specialized in saxophone with Gianni Oddi and Sandro Deidda. In 2010 he got a degree, cum laude, in “Jazz music” at Rome’s most prestigious Santa Cecilia Conservatory. He has been performing, as soloist, at Rai, Mediaset and Sky, the three top TV networks in Italy, in tv programs, soundtracks and audio-visual sonorizations, with among others Ennio Morricone, Armando Trovajoli, Luis Bacalov, Stefano Reali, Stefano di Battista, Roberto Gatto, Enrico Pieranunzi and in an international setting with Woody Allen, Bob Brookmeyer, Dave Liebman, Randy Crawford, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Paul McAndless, Miroslav Vitous and others. Active in major musical events and theatrical tours with the Rome Sistina Theater and Parco della Musica, and Milan Arcimboldo, Marco has performed in theaters all over the world, Usa, Colombia, Canada, Turkey, Albania, Russia, Portugal with Italian and international music groups, and in several international jazz festivals: Montreal and Ottawa, Canada 2002, Tunja and Medellin Jazz Festival, Colombia 2003 and 2010, Tomar, Portugal 2004, Tirana, Albania 2007, Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, Turkey 2005, Minsk, Belarus 2008, Tabarka, Tunisia 2003, Mons, Belgium 2001, New York, USA 2005 with the saxophone ensemble “Ialsax Quartet”, Antwerp, Gent, Bruges, Belgium 2010, Nyons and Nantes, France 2010, Barranquilla, Bogota, Cali, Colombia 2010 XXII International Jazz Fest. In 2010 he was assigned the prestigious “International Massimo Urbani Award” reserved to saxophone players of his generation, from all over the world. Recently Marco Guidolotti recorded both as a sideman and as soloist 2 different projects, one as a tribute to Massimo Urbani, on Philology Records; the other is dedicated to the Etrurians, the fascinating Etruscan Civilization which flourished in B.C. centuries, in the geographical area where today Marco lives with his wife Francesca.
