As perfomer Cerino has played as leader and co-leader in various jazz festivals including Umbria Jazz, X Festival internazionale del sax, Innsbruck Le Mans, Berlin Fest, Espoo,Graz, Koln, Munich, Tokio Music Fair, London Music Fair, Frankfurter Messe, Helsinki 
As composer Cerino has written original soundtracks for a number of movies, short films, TV and stage productions, including ‘La donna della sua vita’ (D.Franco, 1st Prize at the Aosta Film Festival, juries presided by Mario Monicelli); 
He composes pieces of classical and contemporary music for different musicians, including Teatro La Scala, Carlo Felice e National Orchestra of Lugano soloists. 
He has worked on more than 60 records, as leader, composer or guest. Among others he has recorded and performed with T.Scott, P.Bley, Kenny G, D.Gottlieb, M.Forman. 
He taught theory, instrument and ensamble in many school and Conservatories
In 2000 ‘Vivaldi’s Four Seasons’, a re-writing of the popular 4 seasons for an half jazz and classical orchestra. The work received enthusiastic reviews from both classical and jazz critics
In 2007 he arranges and directs Morricone’s music while the Maestro was receiving special prize. 
He composed soundtracks for more than 10 movies ( fiction, documentary) for some of them receiving prize (TUTU’ by G.Mondadori best soundtrack OZU prize; LA DONNA DELLA SUA VITA by Daniela Franca best short Aosta Festival; LINO SABBATINI by G.Migliarotti best art documentary Asolo Festival). Daniele Rugo’s Documentary THE OLYMPIC SIDE of LONDON was on air in UK TV
In 2011 he composed music for the China Hong Kong production ??????and his personal version of chinese classic Moon Represents My Heart, was choosen by the directors Tony Chan and Wing Shya for the official MV and trailer for the film where his arrangement was sung by Aaron Quok, Angela Baby and Eason Chen.
He also directed 2 projects with multiethnic orchestras in Milano Conservatory conducting orchestra with all world elements, including, Brazilians, Chinese, Rumanian Turchish and Peruvian musicians.
In 2014 in european theatre piccolo teatro Strehler he celebrates with Musica Oggi Big Band his 30 years of career in a concert event with all his compositions.

In 2017 La Mia Napoli was born from the dream of Alessandro Cerino of rewriting the classics of the Neapolitan Song in an unprecedented jazz version. The songs retain their baroque origin, but they are presented in a completely new light: jazz harmonies and neapolitan melodies blend together working in service of the lyrics, the true expressive medium.
The show debuted with resounding success on April 10, 2017 at the Piccolo Teatro Strehler of Milan.
He is the Artistic Director and creator of “THere was many Times the jazz”, a 6 concerts festival about jazz History.
