Marco Guidolotti Quartet – Tosky Records®
Marco Guidolotti, outstanding saxophonist, won the international competition Massimo Urbani in 2010. He is a very prolific soloist at RAI, Mediaset and Sky broadcasting companies, paying tribute to the great music of Gerry Mulligan and especially to the quartet with trumpeter Chet Baker. In this album, he represents the golden years of the West Coast jazz music. An album full of joy and swing, mixing unreleased songs by Guidolotti and famous productions of the legendary Gerry Mulligan.
Born in Mantova, in 1977, Marco Guidolotti started studying saxophone at six years old and got his Bachelor’s Degree in clarinet, in 1999, at the “A. Casella Conservatory”, in L’ Aquila. He then specialized in saxophone with Gianni Oddi and Sandro Deidda. In 2010, he got a Master’s Degree with honors in Jazz music at Santa Cecilia Conservatory, in Rome. He has been performing as soloist at the Italian broadcasters RAI, Mediaset and Sky, collaborating with TV programs, for soundtracks production and audio-visual synch. He worked with Ennio Morricone, Armando Trovajoli, Luis Bacalov, Stefano di Battista, Roberto Gatto, Enrico Pieranunzi and others. He also collaborated at international level with Woody Allen, Bob Brookmeyer, Dave Liebman, Randy Crawford, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Paul McAndless, Miroslav Vitous and others. Performing in major musical events and in theatre tours at Rome Sistina Theater, Parco della Musica, and Milan Arcimboldo, Marco took the stage in theaters all over the world, USA, Colombia, Canada, Turkey, Albania, Russia, Portugal, with Italian and international music groups. He played at several international jazz festivals, like those of Montreal and Ottawa, Tunja and Medellin, Tomar, Tirana, Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, Minsk, Tabarka, Mons, New York with the saxophone ensemble “Ialsax Quartet”, Antwerp, Gent, Bruges, Nyons and Nantes, Barranquilla, Bogota, Cali. In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious “International Massimo Urbani Award” reserved to the saxophone players of his generation, from all over the world. Marco Guidolotti recorded three projects: a tribute to Massimo Urbani, at Philology Records; a concept album dedicated to the Etrurians, the fascinating Etruscan civilization, which flourished in B.C. centuries, and, finally, this tribute to the music of Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker.
