Dario Germani is a versatile and creative Italian musician, proficient in both electric bass and double bass, with a rich background in classical and jazz music. Throughout his career, he has worked as a live performer, composer, arranger, music producer, and event organizer, collaborating with renowned artists and international orchestras. Born in 1984, Dario received classical training in double bass and music theory at the Conservatory of Frosinone, further expanding his jazz expertise through master classes with prominent figures in the jazz world. His studies include notable sessions such as the Berklee Summer School at Umbria Jazz and master classes across Italy and Europe with mentors like Buster Williams, Eddie Gomez, and Scott Colley.
As a freelance musician, Dario has performed internationally, including in Australia, where he collaborated with the Australasian Orchestra and Melbourne Lawyers Orchestra, and in North America, where he toured both the East and West coasts, performing in cities from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Toronto and New York. His performances and collaborations have consistently reflected his dedication to musical exploration and innovation, blending technical skill with a deep appreciation for diverse musical styles.
Beyond performance, Dario has taken on roles in radio direction and consultancy, notably for the program “Beckett Hotel” on Radio Godot in Rome. He also works with Telecinesound Records and HEM Records, with notable releases such as “Lines,” “Particles,” and “CRACK.” As an event organizer, he founded the Fregellae Jazz Festival, a local jazz festival that has hosted both Italian and international talent, enriching the cultural landscape of his hometown. Dario’s discography as a leader includes albums such as “For Life” (Tosky Records 2013), “Fog Monk” (GRM Records 2015), and “To Sky” (GRM Records 2017), showcasing his range as both a composer and performer.
As a sideman, he has contributed to a variety of projects, including works by artists like Matteo Cona and Melania Maggiore. In recognition of his artistry, Dario was awarded the first prize as Best Arranger at the Lucky Award (Orsara Jazz) in 2011. He brings his international experiences and influences into his music, creating a unique and expressive style that resonates with audiences worldwide. Now based in Rome, Dario continues to expand his musical reach through performances, recording projects, and collaborations, remaining committed to refining his art and fostering a global appreciation for jazz and beyond.
