The Turning Point is the first album as band leader by the trumpeter Alessandro Bottacchiari. Five original compositions inspired by the modern sounds of the New York jazz scene and two standards presented in an original guise, these are the elements used in this debut album to describe a “turning point” towards new artistic experiences and new goals. A synthesis of musical and life experiences that come together in a series of compositions with balanced sounds supported arrangements designed to enhance the melodic lines at their best and underline their character.
Alessandro Bottacchiari born in Bergamo in 1984, at the age of six, he began studying piano. At sixteen, he passionately started to play the trumpet and he graduated in Classical Trumpet at the G. Donizetti Conservatory of Music in Bergamo, Italy. Later, he graduated in Jazz Trumpet at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan, mentored by Maestro Giovanni Falzone. He attended several masterclasses held by renowned trumpeters such as Reinhold Friederich and Gabriele Cassone. As for classical music, he trained with Roberto Rivellini (II trumpet at ONS Rai), for what concerns jazz music, he studied with Sergio Orlandi, Kyle Gregory, John Barclay. In 2005, he began his collaboration with the Jazz Company Big Band, directed by Maestro Gabriele Comeglio and with the “JWOrchestra”, directed by Maestro Marco Gotti. Over the years, he had the chance to play with internationally renowned musicians, such as Bobby Watson, Lew Soloff, Bob Mintzer, Dave Weckl, Fabrizio Bosso, Gianluigi Trovesi, Gigi Cifarelli, Pee Wee Ellis, Tony Arco, Tino Tracanna, Marco Vaggi and many others. In 2005, he also performed in the “Montecarlo Nights Orchestra” national tour, with Maestro Emilio Soana. He played with the “Jazz Company Big Band” in the Massimo Lopez theater show, performing in the main Italian theaters. He is currently a permanent member of the “Montecarlo Nights Orchestra”, which is guided by “Nick The Nightfly”, performing periodically at the Blue Note, in Milan. During the years, he performed in some of major Italian and international jazz festivals like the “Bergamo Jazz Festival”, the “Padova Jazz Festival”, the “Iseo Jazz Festival”. In 2015, within the project “The Fringe Youth Ensemble”, he performed as soloist trumpet at the Malta Jazz Festival. . He currently teaches trumpet and music and he play like freelance as a sideman and soloist in different formations, from the small combo to the big band.
