“The G-Session” by Luigi Masciari.The title is borrowed from the homonymous recording studio of Brooklyn, which framed this last production of Masciari as a band leader. “The G-Session” is a musical performance realized together with two outstanding musicians. It is an impressive composition of warmth, vibration and sound very dear to the New York Jazz music, yet with an original touch, an hallmark making Masciari stand out as an eclectic and inspired composer, whose musical language is a mix of groove and melodic moments.

Luigi Masciari, guitar player and composer, in 1996, fascinated by jazz music, joined a specific training course, whilst starting in parallel his professional and artistic career. He started studying jazz guitar with Umberto Fiorentino and deepened musical language attending assiduously the music laboratory directed by Gianluigi Goglia. He obtained the Master’s Degree in “Jazz Arrangement and Composing” at the National Academy of St. Cecilia in Rome, guided by Maestro Paolo Damiani, who began a fruitful collaboration with, realizing various recordings and endless live concerts. During his period at the National Academy, first as a student and then as a teacher, he also had the opportunity to study and work, both in recording rooms and in live concerts, with the outstanding pianist Danilo Rea, giving birth to an important experience of didactic cooperation in the Academy. His intense composing activity and his successful live performances have been rewarded by various prizes and recognitions, including the prestigious American international prize “Betty Carter Jazz Ahead for Performers and Composers”. On such occasion, he had the opportunity not only to perform on the stage of the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., but also to present his original compositions. He is currently jazz guitar teacher in many Italian conservatories and has made many records, both as band leader and as sideman. He performs with leading artists in the national and international jazz field (Danilo Rea, Paolo Damiani, Aaron Parks, Paul McCandless, Javier Girotto, Rosario Giuliani, Francesco Bearzatti, and others).
