“Somewhere In My Mind” by Luigi Masciari.The title is borrowed from the homonymous recording studio of Brooklyn, which framed this last production of Masciari as a band leader. “The G-Session” is a musical performance realized together with two outstanding musicians. It is an impressive composition of warmth, vibration and sound very dear to the New York Jazz music, yet with an original touch, an hallmark making Masciari stand out as an eclectic and inspired composer, whose musical language is a mix of groove and melodic moments.
Guitarist and composer Luigi Masciari has collaborated live and in the studio with some of the most prestigious names on the national and international jazz scene. With several albums to his credit, he has recorded, among many others, with Aaron Parks (The G-Session), Micheal League (Viva de André), Jason Lindner (Somewhere in my Mind), Danilo Rea (Emoticons, Nosferatu) Paolo Damiani (Pane e Tempesta, Classiche Musiche Leggere), Alfredo Paixão (Firts Name Oona), Francesco Bearzatti (“Noise in the Box”). Born in Naples on august 1977, He graduated in Jazz Guitar at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music under the guidance of Professors Paolo Damiani and Danilo Rea, with whom he immediately started a close musical collaboration.
Masciari is the winner of the prestigious US award “Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead for performers and composers”, Washington D.C “, 2007, awarded to him by legendary musicians such as Curtis Fuller and Dr. Billy Taylor. As band leader or sidemand, He has performed in many festival and concert halls such as Kennedy Center Washington DC, Festival Les Rendez-vous de l’Erdre Nantes, Mancinelli Theatre for Umbria Jazz Festival, Auditorium Parco della Musica Rome, Blue note Milan.
Based in Rome, Masciari is also the arranger and musical director of the project Viva De André, narrated by Luigi Viva, which has included significant collaborations, with Giulio Carmassi (Pat Metheny Unity Group), Michael League (leader of Snarky Puppy) and David Blamires (Pat Metheny Group). He holds the chair of Jazz Guitar at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence.
